A group within All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Oyo state, on Momday cautioned leaders and members of the party to desist from attacking a former first lady of the State, Dr. Florence Ajimobi over her philanthropic gesture.
The group, Oyo Youth Progressives ( OYP) expressed disappointment over a recent statement issued by a faceless group within the state chapter of the party, Articulate Progressives.
Articulate Progressives had in the last weekend described Mrs Ajimobi’s Ramadan Iftar and give away to Muslims as a clandestine move to take control of the party’s structure, following the death of her husband, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
Reacting to the statement, OYP in a statement issued by its Coordinator, Wahab Adekunmbi on Monday, said the attack on the former First Lady came from a shallow thinker who has continues to toe the path of failure due to his arrogance and unappreciative attitude.
According to the statement, attack on Ajimobi by the faceless group is being sponsor by a well known and serial loser of guber election, who will continue to fail in his ambition to rule the state because he continued to hold everyone within the party as enemies.
Speaking further, Oyo Youth Progressives said Mrs. Ajimobi, since the death of her husband, had never at a time struggled for the leadership position of the party but was determined to uphold the legacy of her husband, the late Abiola Ajimobi.
The group lamented that since the sponsor of the hatred statement got his appointment at the federal, he had done more damage to the party than good.
Statement read: ” Our group, Oyo Youth Progressives is a gathering of young APC members within Oyo state, taking on the responsibility of galvanizing and raising a highly cerebral young generation to support our party, APC without Greed.
” Our member’s attention has been drawn to the recent attack on the wife of our late party leader, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi due to her effort to gather party Muslims for Iftar and Ramadan gifts for party members.
“We know the sponsor of the hateful statement is a member of our party; his decision to continue going against the ex-first lady’s kind gesture is not far-fetched, but criticizing the woman over his intention to entertain and rejoice with Muslims during the month of Ramadan will make him incur the wrath of God.
The philanthropic and kind gesture of Chief Mrs Florence Ajimobi during the month of Ramadan started five years ago and she has never failed to associate with the Muslim faithful, especially during the Holy month unfortunately, an over-ambitious politician, who has no regard for the unity of APC with his arrogance classify the former first lady’s humanity as politicking.
“The sponsor of the satanic release, who is also nursing to govern the state, assumed that Chief Mrs. Ajimobi is the architect of his failure, whereas his arrogance and selfishness are actually the root of his problems.
“He should rather seek forgiveness from God because the late Abiola Ajimobi incurred many enemies because of his guber ambition in 2019.
“To set the record straight, the individuals behind the faceless Articulate Progressives group and its over-ambitious sponsor need to put aside arrogance and hatred to support people like Chief Mrs. Ajimobi and others who are working hard to unite the party leaders and members of APC in Oyo state.
“Adding to this, We urge Chief Mrs. Floreonce Ajimobi not to be discouraged by unbelievers and enemies of the party, we advised her to continue with his kind gesture and propagation for the unity of APC in Oyo state.”. OYP said.
