Remembrance Of A Royal Icon By Prince Afeez Siyanbola Oladigbolu

 

One of the grandsons of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Imperial Majesty Oba Abubakar Akanbi Adedokun Siyanbola Oladigbolu, on Thursday, penned a remembrance note for the late king.

Late Oba Siyanbola Oladigbolu, the Alaafin of Oyo was born on
January 1911 and died in 1944.

According to late Siyanbola Oladigbolu’s grandson, Prince Afeez Siyanbola Oladigbolu, he described the late Oyo King as an iconic, unforgettable hero whose contribution to the amalgamation of Northern and Southern protectorates of Nigeria can never be underestimated.

Prince Afeez Siyanbola Oladigbolu, said”, ” On the 19th of December, 1944. Your exit as a first-class monarch, the Alaafin is often accompanied by accolades and commendations from the yoruba-land and beyond.

” Your leadership style, wisdom, and commitment to the welfare of Yorubas are celebrated.

” The Alaafin we remembered today, not just as a ruler but as a father figure, a mentor, and a beacon of hope for future generations. You laid the foundation for the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914, just two years after your ascension as the new lord of the palace, by good representation on behalf of Oduduwa’s House entirely.

” Your journey to the ascension to the throne Àlààfin of Oyo was a profound narrative of heritage, leadership, and cultural pride of Yorubas globally. Dear Grandpa, your exit as a first-class monarch is marked by a legacy of good governance, cultural preservation, and a deep connection to the people you served, ensuring that your memory endures in the hearts of the Oyos, Yoruba people, and the entire nation you birthed in 1914, along with Lord Luguard and other prominent leaders across the Niger, now known as the federal Republic of Nigeria.

” Dear Ikubabayeye, your offspring, in general, appreciate the good foundation you laid for the supreme Oyo dynasty. We appreciate your efforts, dear grandfather.
