Why I Refused A Political Offer That Could Earn Me A Seat At Federal Level – Arch. Animasaun Ajibola Idris

An Ibadan-based Architect, political, sports pundit, and social media influencer, Animasaun Ajibola Idris has opened up on his unwillingness to accept a political seat offer, which could have narrowed him to be one of the young elected office holders at the national level.

Idris, a graduate of the polytechnic, Ibadan,
who is also currently a student of the Department of Architecture at Lead City University Ibadan
thanked the political party, its leaders, and members for honoring him with the House of Representatives, ticket, having seen him as a credible, trustworthy, and visionary youth whose main aim is to contribute to the development of his immediate environment and state.

While stating his reasons for not accepting the offer, he said, there is a need for him to get more prepared ahead of the political journey, adding that while he gets prepared and waits for the best opportunity, he will be using his strength and materials to support All progressives Congress ( APC ) candidate Hon. Dapo Lam-Adesina for the Ibadan Southeast, Northeast federal constituency.

According to Animasaun Idris: ” First and foremost, let me reiterate the fact that I am not just honored but, completely floored and humbled by the fact that a Political Party deems me worthy and qualified enough to run on its platform as their candidate for the Ibadan southeast/North-East Federal Constituency. It’s a sign of belief and love, not just for my person but for everything I have stood for and still stand for. However, I am without sounding pompous or prejudiced rejecting the offer for the following reasons.
ll

” This decision is not a light one but one taken after wide consultation in the political, social, business, and even religious circles where I have my people who would galvanize my movement should I decide to take the baton. However, while many even chose to spur me on and move with this tide, the voice of caution and reason prevailed saying, ‘now isn’t the time’ because just like the title of a James Bond movie, I believe that, ‘Tomorrow never Dies’.

” Again, I owe this to my young family to nurture them more before delving fully into the so murky and muddy waters of Nigerian politics because I believe a man who cannot care for his home is not worthy of public trust or administration. Hence, I’ll take the next couple of years to groom my home and prepare them for the sacrifice ahead as I’m already never always at home. Therefore, I need to prepare the home front well because it’s the one place that should never be affected come what may.

” In the same vein, I already made my stand and gave my word to fully support Hon Dapo Lam Adesina for this same post come next year and I intend to fully stand by my words as I am convinced that for now, he can do a very good job of representing our dear constituency in the lower house. Attached to this is the fact that I know I am not yet calm enough nor “diplomatic” enough to speak or not to speak like a politician as I speak my mind without minding whose Axe is gored. I need to refine my speech and clear some things before committing fully to the politics of our society.

” However, I have chosen not to run away but to live to fight another day first and foremost, I want to start by touching more lives, reaching out to more people, and feel I have everything it takes to run, win and effect the desired positive changes needed all around. Then and only then will my conscience permit me to run for public office.

” Finally, to all who believe in me, I’ll be stronger because the preparation begins now. Verbum sat sapienti.

” Thanks a whole lot and I do not take this love for granted”. He concluded.
