The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State may be heading toward a major electoral setback in the 2027 general elections if the grievances arising from the appointment of Mr. Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power are not urgently addressed, concerned party members have warned.

A group of aggrieved stakeholders within the party has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the development, cautioning that the growing resentment among loyal members could translate into political losses at the polls.

The concerned members: Akeem Adetoyese, Mogaji Abiola Oyeyemi, Banji A. Banji, Wale Aponmode, and Folarin Martins said the current situation reflects a dangerous disconnect between the party leadership and its grassroots base.

According to them, the APC risks losing its electoral footing in Oyo State if it continues to sideline dedicated members who have consistently worked for the party’s success.

“The fortune of the next election in Oyo State is tied to how the party handles this matter. If nothing is done, we may be heading for another defeat,” the group warned.

They argued that Tegbe’s appointment has stirred widespread discontent, particularly among party faithful who believe that loyalty and hard work are no longer being rewarded.

Many of these members, they said, played key roles during previous election cycles, mobilizing support and resources, only to now feel neglected and undervalued.

“This development has demoralized our people. Those who sacrificed for the party now feel used and abandoned. That kind of sentiment can affect voter turnout and grassroots mobilization,” one of the stakeholders noted.

The group stressed that internal dissatisfaction, if left unresolved, could weaken the APC’s structure in the state, making it difficult to effectively compete in future elections.

They further warned that the ripple effects of such discontent could extend beyond party lines, as frustrated members may either withdraw their support or become inactive during critical campaign periods.

“The party cannot afford to ignore this. Elections are won at the grassroots, and right now, the grassroots are unhappy,” they added.

Calling for immediate intervention, the stakeholders urged the APC leadership at both the state and national levels to prioritize reconciliation and fairness in its reward system.

They maintained that restoring confidence among party loyalists is essential to preventing a potential electoral loss in 2027.

While reaffirming their commitment to the party, the aggrieved members insisted that urgent steps must be taken to address their concerns, warning that failure to do so could have serious political consequences for the APC in Oyo State.
