In commemorating the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, the Twenty-One Five Child Foundation (T1FF) inspired and empowered over 350 secondary school girls across Ibadan at a one-day programme called “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead.”

The event at St. Anne’s School, Molete, brought together students from 17 secondary schools for an engaging and transformative experience focused on leadership, self-worth, and resilience.

Founded in 2023 by Ambassador Tolu Taiwo, an international peace advocate, T1FF Foundation has quickly distinguished itself through impactful projects that support teenagers, particularly young girls, across Oyo State and beyond.

The foundation has provided assistance to over 150 teenage mothers, conducted health and hygiene outreaches with free delivery kits, and is presently preparing to launch a Free Yard Boutique for less privileged children.

Speaking passionately at the event, Ambassador Taiwo encouraged the girls to see themselves as leaders capable of transforming their communities. Sharing her own story of perseverance, she said:

“We, girls, are builders! I failed, stumbled, messed up, but didn’t stay on the ground. Life taught me so many lessons. I had a child at 19, and today that child is one of my greatest gifts. My story is proof that every setback can become a strength.”

She further emphasized that the foundation’s vision goes beyond gender, focusing on creating equal opportunities for all children to thrive.

“TIFF is for the child in general. Our goal is to address challenges that affect teenagers, especially girls, and equip them with the confidence and resources to take empowered steps,” added Mr. Promise, Project Lead for the TIFF International Girl Child Initiative.

Participating schools included St. Catherine College, St. Anne’s Secondary School, People’s Girl Grammar School, Oladipo Alayande School of Science, ECWA Model College, Queen’s School, Apata, Yejide Girls Grammar School, Our Lady of Apostles, Ibadan Grammar School, Eyini Grammar School, Marella College, Saint Anne’s Comprehensive College, and Valencia School, among others.

In her closing remarks, Ambassador Taiwo reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to building a generation of girls who are not just dreamers but doers.

“Life will test you, but you must never stop rising. Every fall is a reminder that you can stand taller. That is why TIFF exists to support, educate, and empower, she advised.

The event ended on an uplifting note, with participants leaving more confident in their identity and inspired to lead positive change within their schools and communities perfectly reflecting the theme, “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead.”
