The Ladigbolu family of Oyo Alaafin has sent a strong warning to the Founder and Executive Director of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Professor Ishaq Akintola, to desist from leveraging on the Islamic movement to interfere on the Alaafin stool.
The family reacted to a recent publication made by Prof. Akintola on
telegraph dated 13th of September 2024.
” According to Akintola,’ That is the agenda we want to give His Majesty because the question on the lips of many people is: Can there be a palace Chief Imam where there is no befitting palace Mosque? “Soun is on a mission to bastardize Islam, and that is the cause belli for all his intrusions into Islamdom. He wants to break the ranks of the Muslims in the land.
” He is being ably aided and abetted by the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, whose main mission is to fill all the traditional stools in the state with Christians. That is the only reason he has delayed the installation of the Muslim candidate chosen by the rightful kingmakers of Oyo for the Alaafin stool”.
Akintola further stated that the announcement of the new Alaafin was delayed due to religious interest, which is why he refused to approve a Muslim candidate. The Ladigbolu said all allegations leveled against Governor Makinde by Akintola were without any proof.
Prince Adetayo Ladigbolu, on behalf of the Ladigbolu family, said the state governor, Seyi Makinde, and his administration have nothing to do with the ongoing riff between Soun Ogbomoso, His Royal Majesty Oba Ghandi Olaoye, and the Chief Imam, Toliat Ayilara.
” Governor Makinde has no plan to install Christians as first-class kings across Oyo state; MURIC should not cause any crisis. Yoruba land has respect for every religion. He is not interested in appointing any Christian as Alaafin; he only wants a free and fair method of selection.
Professor Akintola never finds out why a particular candidate was rejected. He just responded based on what some of the Oyo Muslims told him, not knowing those who came to him were only interested in becoming the new Chief Imam of the ancient town, and the best available option was to canvass MURIC leader, Akintola to achieve their aim.
They never told Akintola that the rejected candidate only bears a Muslim name but, his attitudes are dehumanizing
They never told their MURIC leader that some successful business owners are now on sick beds due to their encounter with the same rejected candidate.
They refused to tell Akintola how the so-called rejected candidate defrauded people here and there and stained his name everywhere with fraudulent activities.
They only told Professor Akintola what he wanted to hear, and, he bought over their selfish and unrealistic claims. Ladigbolu family questioned the MURIC leader why he has to be criticizing Governor Makinde over a community clash between a King and his appointee, without a knowledge of the issue
The Ladigbolu family urged Professor Akintola to be wary of users and self-centered Oyo Muslims who are ready to use his reputation to their advantage to become Oyo town chief Imam.
