Residents Raise Alarm Over Jiboye–Lade Owo–Abeokuta Road, Seek Rep Member, Remi Oseni Urgent Intervention
Residents of Ido Local Government Area, Omi Adio and neighbouring communities have appealed to relevant authorities to urgently address the deplorable condition of the Jiboye–Lade Owo–Abeokuta road, describing the situation as a threat to lives, property and economic activities in the area.
The residents, in a statement, lamented that despite several appeal letters and calls for intervention directed to the member representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Remi Oseni, who also chairs the House Committee on Federal Roads Agency, no visible action has commenced on the critical road project.
According to them, the poor state of the road has made movement difficult for commuters and residents, with the route gradually becoming a death trap for motorists and other road users.
They expressed concern that the situation has also affected living conditions, claiming that some residents are forced to seek alternative shelter whenever heavy rainfall occurs due to the impact of the bad road and associated environmental challenges.
The residents called on political office holders representing Ido at the federal, state and local government levels to put aside political differences and work together towards finding a lasting solution to the problem.
They specifically urged the Oyo State Government, lawmaker Remi Oseni to take immediate steps to rehabilitate the road, stressing that prompt intervention would help prevent further loss of lives and property.
“Our people deserve safe and motorable roads. We appeal to all stakeholders to act now before the situation gets worse,” the residents stated.
They maintained that improved road infrastructure would enhance accessibility, boost economic activities and improve the quality of life of communities along the route.
