An Ibadan-born engineer, Mustapha Khalil Repete, has congratulated Senator Teslim Folarin on his elevation to the revered traditional title of Aare Alaasa Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The conferment was officially announced on Friday by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Ige Olakulehin I, in recognition of Senator Folarin’s contributions to the socio-political and cultural development of Ibadan and Oyo State.
Repete, in a statement made available to newsmen, described Folarin’s elevation as a well-deserved honour for a man who has consistently demonstrated commitment to the advancement of Ibadan and Yoruba traditions.
“Senator Folarin’s elevation to Aare Alaasa Olubadan is not only a personal achievement but a source of pride to all of us in Ibadan and Oyo State. His political strides and unwavering dedication to community development have rightly earned him this recognition by the revered Olubadan,” Repete stated.
Folarin, a former Senate Leader and three-term Senator representing Oyo Central, has continued to play a significant role in both traditional and political circles in Ibadanland. He was previously elevated from the title of Asaaju Olubadan to Ikolaba Olubadan in October 2023, before his most recent promotion to Aare Alaasa, one of the high-ranking titles in the Olubadan chieftaincy line.
Repete urged the people of Ibadan to support traditional institutions and continue to honour individuals whose actions reflect positively on the cultural heritage of the land.
The title of Aare Alaasa Olubadan places Senator Folarin further in the succession hierarchy of the Olubadan throne, reflecting his rising influence in Ibadan’s traditional council.
