Oyo People’s Democratic party candidates, leaders, and members’ minds are at their height as they are to wait a little longer to know who to vote as president on February 25, according to the state governor, Seyi Makinde and his G-5 allies.
The G-5 governors were on Thursday at Mapo Hall in Ibadan, which was the
location for the kickoff of the campaign
of the governor of Oyo state.
Oyo PDP Senatorial, House of Representatives, Assembly candidates, leaders, and members who were at the historic Mapo Hall, expected the state governor to make his stand known about his preferred presidential candidate or to declare his support for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar but everyone was left in suspense at the end of the show.
According to Wike, who is the leader of the group appealed to the PDP members and supporters to vote for all the candidates of the party for the National and State Assembly elections, he deliberately excluded the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku, said their state governor, Seyi Makinde will update them the adopted candidate later on.
“Vote for Seyi; vote for the senators; vote for the House of Representatives; vote for the House of Assembly. The other one, Seyi will talk to you. The other one, Seyi will talk to you. The other one, Seyi will talk to you. When it is time, Seyi will talk to you.”
But, pro-Atiku supporters, led by one-time Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, chanted ‘Atiku, Atiku’ to protest the exclusion of the presidential standard bearer in the list of candidates reeled out by the governors, who took turns to address the crowd.
One of the party leaders who were not happy with the state governor’s indecision, Baba Alimi Agunbiade from Iseyin local government said it was a political embarrassment for the party, from its overall leader not being able to decide between who to support and against for the presidential election.
” Election is coming next month, we are yet to start a campaign for our party’s presidential candidate, and our governor is even yet to decide who to support. But, I am sure the party leaders and members have left Makinde and his G-5 decision to decide for themselves, here in Oyo state, we are all voting for Atiku Abubakar, and we have been informed that Oloye Jumoke will lead the campaign, governor Makinde and his G-5 should continue to waste their own time. Baba Agunbiade said.
