A number of members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ido Local Government who recently defected to the “Oyo N Pe O” movement have renounced their decision and returned to the PDP, declaring that the movement was not genuine.
The group had earlier visited the premises of Agidigbo 88.7 FM, Ibadan, where they publicly pledged their support for the radio station’s owner, Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat, in what appeared to be a budding governorship campaign trend.
However, just days after the visit, the defectors reversed their stance, saying their brief political detour was misguided.
Speaking on behalf of the returnees, Prince Taiwo Ishola stated that they had chosen to return to the PDP in the interest of unity and development within the local government. “There is no Oyo N Pe O movement in Ido Local Government.

“We have come back home to work tirelessly in support of PSM 2027 under the capable leadership of Hon. Sheriff.” Ishola said.
Receiving the returning members, the Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, commended their courage and described the PDP as the only party that genuinely serves the interest of the people.

He noted that the decision of the defectors to return to the fold demonstrated political maturity and renewed commitment to the party’s progressive agenda. “The PDP remains the party of the masses and a natural home for everyone who believes in purposeful governance,” Adeojo said.
Also speaking, the PDP Chairman in Ido Local Government, Hon. Musibau Emiola (popularly known as Emma), welcomed the returnees and encouraged them to uphold party loyalty and discipline. He urged all members to report any irregularities within the fold and work collectively to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
The return of the former defectors has been described by political observers in the area as a morale booster for the PDP’s grassroots mobilisation in Ido Local Government.
