The Oyo State Ministry of Health, under the leadership of the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, on Tuesday officially ushered in the year 2026 with prayers and songs of thanksgiving to the Almighty God.

The event, which took place at the Ministry’s Conference Room, brought together management and staff members who gathered to appreciate God through songs of praise and prayers offered in both Christian and Islamic ways.

In her New Year message, Dr. Ajetunmobi expressed gratitude to God for His protection throughout the previous year and for the privilege of witnessing the new year. She also commended the dedication and tireless efforts of the Ministry’s management and staff, noting that their commitment contributed to the Ministry’s recognition for outstanding performance during the 2025 Public Service Week/2024 Merit Award.

The Honourable Commissioner charged members of the health family to maintain a positive work attitude, particularly in their interactions with members of the public, stressing the importance of representing the government with professionalism and compassion.

She said, “When patients come to the hospital, let your words be words of encouragement, and always offer them the best of services.”

Dr. Ajetunmobi added that the prayer session was also an opportunity to commit the affairs of the Ministry into God’s hands, noting that whatever is entrusted to God is preserved to the end. She urged all health workers to remain healthy, work collaboratively as a team, and continue to put their hearts into service delivery in order to achieve greater results in the new year.
