The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, on Monday gathered over 200 members of staff for a landmark interfaith prayer session held at the council’s Multi-Purpose Hall.
The session brought together Muslims, Christians and Traditional worshippers, who knelt side by side in prayers for peace, unity, progress and prosperity in Ido Local Government and Omi Apata LCDA. The atmosphere was filled with solemn reflection and hope as voices rose in harmonious supplication.
At the close of the event, staff members broke into applause, describing the gathering as a historic achievement in the tenure of Hon. Adeojo.
Speaking on behalf of the workforce, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Kamil Raji, praised the council chairman for fostering unity and prioritising staff welfare.
“Hon. Sheriff Adeojo has written his name in gold in the history of Ido Local Government. This is the first time staff are gathering in uniform for a New Year interfaith prayer. We thank you for being a listening leader and for your prompt responses to our welfare needs. No previous chairman has united us this way,” he said.
In his remarks, Hon. Adeojo expressed deep appreciation to staff of Ido Local Government and Omi Apata LCDA for their unwavering support.
“Your support has been the backbone of our achievements so far. From infrastructural development to community outreach, we have achieved so much together, and this is just the beginning,” he stated.
The chairman also fulfilled a long-standing promise by announcing the immediate payment of the 2018 staff leave bonus arrears before the end of the month, a declaration that was met with loud cheers. In addition, he approved the release of ₦500,000 as transportation support, which was shared equitably among staff present to ease their daily commute.
The programme also featured an enlightening lecture on staff regulations delivered by the Director of Administration and General Services, Mrs. Titi Adesina, who emphasized compliance with civil service rules, ethical conduct and career growth opportunities.
This was complemented by a health talk from the Primary Health Care Coordinator, Mr. Oluseyi Oladosu, who advised staff on wellness, stress management and preventive healthcare. He encouraged regular medical check-ups and cautioned against the use of unprescribed drugs.
As participants dispersed, smiles and optimism lingered. For staff of Ido Local Government and Omi Apata LCDA, the event symbolised not just unity of faiths, but a renewed promise of better welfare and inclusive leadership under a chairman committed to faith, fairness and action.
