Osunlana Declares Reps Bid Under APC, Distributes Ramadan Relief Across Ibadan North

An aspirant for the House of Representatives seat in Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Honourable Afolabi Emmanuel Osunlana, has officially declared his intention to contest the forthcoming election, coinciding with a large-scale distribution of food items to residents across the constituency.
The outreach programme, held to mark the end of Ramadan, saw Osunlana provide relief packages to beneficiaries across the 12 wards that make up Ibadan North Local Government, drawing commendation from community members and stakeholders.
Addressing residents during the event, Osunlana said his decision to run for office was driven by calls from the people, rather than personal ambition.
“I am not here because I woke up one morning and decided I wanted power. I am here because you called me. And when your people call you, you answer. That is the Ibadan way,” he said.
The aspirant, who emphasized his grassroots connection to the constituency, noted that his familiarity with the challenges faced by residents including unemployment and economic hardship positions him to offer effective representation.
“I grew up here. I understand what it means for families to struggle daily and for young people to face uncertainty after school. These are not just stories to me; they are realities I have witnessed and worked to address,” he added.
Osunlana highlighted his past interventions in supporting small businesses and individuals through financial assistance and empowerment initiatives, stressing that such efforts would be expanded if elected into office.
He identified unemployment as a critical issue affecting the constituency, promising to advocate for sustainable youth empowerment programmes and improved access to opportunities.
“When I get to Abuja, I will not be there to occupy space. I will be a strong voice for our people pushing for real skills development, genuine employment opportunities, and support for small businesses,” he stated.
Osunlana also pledged to ensure consistent and visible representation, vowing to actively participate in legislative processes that directly impact his constituents.
“We will no longer send representatives who disappear. We will send someone who shows up every time, for every issue that concerns our people,” he assured.
