NDC Oyo Central Candidate, Salawu Raises Alarm Over Continued Captivity of Oyo Students, Teachers

I The National Democratic Coalition (NDC) candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial District, Akeem Salawu, has expressed deep concern over the continued captivity of students and teachers abducted from a school in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, calling on government and security agencies to intensify efforts toward their immediate rescue.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Salawu lamented that more than 21 days had passed since the victims were kidnapped, describing the situation as a painful ordeal for their families and loved ones.

He said the prolonged uncertainty surrounding the whereabouts of the abductees had subjected parents and relatives to severe emotional and psychological distress.
“As a father, a leader and a concerned citizen, I cannot begin to imagine the anguish that the families of these victims have endured. For more than three weeks, parents have gone to bed without knowing the whereabouts of their children, while loved ones have been left to grapple with fear, anxiety and endless questions,” he said.
The senatorial candidate extended his sympathy to the affected families, assuring them that they were not alone in their struggle and that many Nigerians continued to share in their hope for the safe return of the victims.
While offering prayers for the abducted students and teachers, Salawu expressed concern that despite the passage of more than three weeks, the victims remained in captivity.

According to him, the situation requires greater urgency, stronger coordination and more visible proactive efforts from both government and security agencies.
“The lives of our children and educators are too precious to be left in prolonged uncertainty,” he stated.
Salawu urged the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government and security agencies to deploy all necessary resources to secure the immediate and safe release of the abductees.
He described the incident as not only a security challenge but also a humanitarian emergency affecting families, communities and the wider society.
“As we await positive news, I join men and women of goodwill across Oyo State and Nigeria in offering fervent prayers and in demanding the rescue of these kidnapped children and teachers,” he said.
He prayed for divine protection over the victims and comfort for their families, expressing hope that they would return home safely and unharmed.
Salawu reaffirmed his commitment to speaking out on behalf of the victims and their families until they regain their freedom, adding that the collective hope for their safe return remains alive.
