Muslim Clerics Rally Behind Engr. Dotun Sanusi, Offer Prayers At Ilaji Resort

In a remarkable show of support, a delegation of Islamic clerics from Ibadan visited Engr. Dotun Sanusi, the Chairman of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, at his facility in Oloyo village, Akanran, Ibadan. The visit, which took place on Wednesday, was a significant gesture, even as the philanthropist has urged supporters to halt activities promoting a gubernatorial bid for 2027.

The clerics, representing the League of Imams and Alfas from Ibadan’s 11 local government areas, arrived with the blessing of the Grand Imam of Ibadan, Sheikh Abdul Ghaniyy Agbotomokekere. Their visit was intended to convey their appreciation for Sanusi’s contributions to the community and to offer prayers for his continued success.

In their remarks, the clerics expressed deep admiration for Sanusi’s unwavering commitment to philanthropy and community development. They highlighted his consistent efforts to uplift the masses, describing him as a leader with genuine love for the people.

“We did not come here by chance,” the clerics began. “Although we are aware of your recent statement asking your supporters to pause any political mobilization, we are here to express our support. We believe you are a leader with the potential to bring meaningful change to the lives of the people, especially in these challenging times.”

They went on to praise Sanusi’s extensive contributions to society, including his support for religious institutions, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment. “You have touched many lives through your generosity and selflessness. Your actions speak louder than any campaign, and that is why we are here today—to pray for you and to stand by you.”

In his response, Engr. Dotun Sanusi, who also holds the title of Otun Apesinola of Ibadanland, expressed his gratitude for the visit and the prayers offered on his behalf. He emphasized his commitment to helping those in need, regardless of political ambitions.

“I am deeply moved by your visit and your kind words,” Sanusi said. “It pains me to see others in need when I have the means to help. My businesses were established not for profit but to create opportunities and improve lives. My family and I are committed to this cause, and we will continue to do our part to make society better.”

Sanusi concluded by reaffirming his belief that true leadership is about service to others. “With or without political power, I will continue to support our people. I trust that God will guide us in choosing the right leaders for our future.”

The visit by the clerics underscores the growing recognition of Engr. Dotun Sanusi’s impact on the community and his potential role in the future of Oyo State.
