Isokan Yoruba Royalty Urges Alaafin, Ooni to Embrace Peace, Condemns Ultimatum
Isokan Yoruba Royalty has urged the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade I to see the Ooni Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II as a colleague and partner in peace and development of Yorubaland, Nigeria at large.

The group condemned the 48-hour ultimatum given by the Alaafin to the Ooni of Ife over the Chieftaincy title, Okanlomo of Yourbaland.
The group said these in a statement signed by the Chairman, Elder Victor Akinbode and Publicity Secretary, Mr Segun Ajenifunja, a copy of which was made available to newsmen in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
Isokan Yoruba Royalty said there are better ways for the Alaafin to call the attention of the Ooni to issues and not issuing ultimatum adding that it’s totally uncalled for and derogatory.
The group added that the two monarchs are foremost and first class monarchs in Yorubaland and Nigeria with traceable history and records who shouldn’t be found in such happening.

The group urged the monarchs not to follow the footsteps of the Late Alaafin and Late Ooni adding that the two later embraced peace and worked together before their demise.
The statement read in part: “We urge the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade I, to see the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, as a colleague and partner in peace and development of Yorubaland, Nigeria at large, rather than engaging in actions that could potentially destabilize the region.

“Giving a 48-hour ultimatum is not only wrong, but it’s also totally uncalled for and derogatory, especially considering the esteemed positions of both monarchs in Yorubaland and Nigeria.
“There are better ways for the Alaafin to call the attention of the Ooni to issues, such as through diplomatic channels or mutual acquaintances, rather than resorting to ultimatums that could be perceived as confrontational.
“The two monarchs are foremost and first-class monarchs in Yorubaland and Nigeria, with traceable history and records that command respect and dignity; therefore, they shouldn’t be found in such happenings that could rubbish their images.
“We implore the monarchs not to follow the footsteps of the Late Alaafin and Late Ooni, who, despite their differences, embraced peace and worked together before their demise, setting a good precedent for their successors to follow.”
