The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government Area, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, today flagged off a comprehensive free health outreach programme at the local government Primary Health Care Center Ido, marking Oyo State’s golden jubilee celebrations.
In his address, the Chairman commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State,His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his visionary leadership in prioritizing citizens’ welfare. He also praised the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Hon. Saheed Akinade Fijabi, for spearheading this impactful initiative. “This lofty programme exemplifies our commitment to the well-being of our people,” the Chairman stated, highlighting the impressive turnout of residents.
The Chairman assured attendees that the present administration under Governor Makinde is deeply invested in their health and overall prosperity. “You can count on our Governor to deliver on promises of better healthcare and a brighter future,” he added, urging continued support for ongoing development efforts.
The outreach, led by Dr. Abiodun Akande, from Oyo State primary Health Care Board provided free medical check-ups, consultations, and essential drugs to beneficiaries including the aged, adults, and children. Dr. Akande advised participants to avoid unprescribed drugs and unqualified “quake doctors,” emphasizing: “Please go to registered health facilities for treatment or any enquiry on your health.”
Hundreds of residents benefited from the services, which included screenings for common ailments, blood pressure checks, malaria testing, and distribution of free medications. The event underscores Oyo State’s resolve to achieve universal health coverage as part of its 50th anniversary milestones.
