The Community Development Council (CDC) in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State has intensified efforts to enhance public safety and security through closer collaboration with traditional rulers across the council area.

At a strategic meeting held at the Traditional Council Hall, the CDC leadership and traditional rulers deliberated on measures aimed at improving security architecture and safeguarding lives and property within the local government.

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the CDC, Engr. Lawal Tunde Salaudeen, appealed to traditional rulers to support and expedite the approval process for the recruitment of additional vigilante personnel to strengthen grassroots security operations.

Salaudeen also sought increased support for the provision of operational equipment and suitable accommodation facilities for local security operatives, particularly in boundary communities where security challenges are often more pronounced.

According to him, the proposed facilities would serve as operational bases where security personnel could coordinate activities and report after carrying out assignments.

Responding, the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, His Royal Majesty Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin, assured stakeholders that efforts were already underway to facilitate the recruitment of more vigilante personnel to boost security across the local government.

Similarly, the Onido of Ido, HRH Oba Muritala Babalola, commended the commitment, sacrifices and contributions of vigilante groups and other local security personnel in maintaining peace and order in the area.
