An aspirant for the Ibadan North West State Constituency seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Adebayo Yusuf, has formally petitioned the party’s national leadership over what he described as an attempt to impose another candidate despite his alleged victory in the party’s primary election.

In a statement of appeal dated July 2, 2026, and addressed to the APC National Chairman through the Oyo State Chairman, Yusuf urged the party to uphold what he called the verified outcome of the primary election conducted on May 20, 2026.

According to the aspirant, the ward-by-ward results from the primary election showed that he secured the majority of votes cast by delegates, insisting that the mandate reflected the confidence reposed in him by party members.

Yusuf alleged that there were ongoing moves to substitute his name with that of another candidate, describing such actions as a violation of the APC Constitution, the party’s electoral guidelines, and the democratic rights of members who participated in the primary.

He maintained that respecting the outcome of the primary election would strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that internal democracy, fairness, and transparency remain essential for the APC’s success.

The aspirant appealed to the party’s state and national leadership to recognise and uphold what he described as the verified results of the primary election, reject any attempt to impose another candidate, and constitute an independent review panel to examine the election records and confirm the legitimacy of his candidacy.

Yusuf reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and expressed confidence that the party leadership would resolve the matter in line with its constitution and democratic principles.
