Ibadan North-East Clinches Top Two Spots at Omidan NULGE 2026 Pageant

Ibadan North-East Local Government has reaffirmed its standing as a hub of excellence after securing both the first and second positions at the maiden edition of the Omidan NULGE Beauty and Brains Pageant held in Oyo State.
The event, organised by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Oyo State Chapter, formed part of the activities marking the swearing-in of newly elected executives across some local governments, alongside the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration held on Tuesday, 28 April.

With the theme, “Give to Gain: Right, Justice, Action for All Women and Girls,” and sub-theme “Beauty and Brains,” the pageant highlighted the intelligence, strength, and dynamism of women across local governments in the state.
At the end of the keenly contested competition, Alade Favour Iyanuoluwa emerged the winner, while Tijani Damilola Mercy secured the second position, both representing Ibadan North-East Local Government.
The competition assessed participants beyond physical appearance, with contestants evaluated on their knowledge of local government administration, history, values, and personal talents, reinforcing the pageant’s emphasis on intellectual capacity and cultural awareness.
Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Hakeem Ige, commended the organisers, led by NULGE State President, Comrade Ayobami Olusegun Adeogun, and the State Women Chairperson, Comrade (Mrs.) Atilola Kafayat, for initiating a platform that promotes both the beauty and intellect of women in local governance.

He noted that all participants demonstrated exceptional qualities and served as worthy ambassadors of their respective councils.
In his remarks, Adeogun described the pageant as a historic initiative and expressed appreciation to stakeholders and participating local governments for their support and commitment to the programme’s success.
Top officials from Ibadan North-East Local Government were present at the event, including the Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs. Omolara Aremu, alongside other senior staff and supporters.
The double victory further underscores Ibadan North-East’s consistent track record in nurturing confident, intelligent, and culturally grounded young women, reinforcing its reputation as a leading local government in both intellectual and cultural development.
