Hon. Olalekan Adeleke Atilola, popularly known as Olacash, a former aspirant for the Oyo State House of Assembly and a notable political figure in Ibadan North Constituency II, has formally resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

In a resignation letter dated January 8, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP, Ward 7, Ibadan North Local Government Area, Hon. Atilola announced his decision to leave the party after what he described as extensive consultations with his followers, stakeholders, and respected elders within his political circle.

According to the letter, the decision to part ways with the PDP was not taken lightly. Hon. Atilola attributed his resignation to persistent acts of neglect within the party, the continuous sidelining of loyal members who had committed significant time, resources, and energy to the growth of the party, as well as what he described as mounting internal and external crises affecting the party’s structure.

He noted that these challenges had made it increasingly difficult for him to reconcile his personal convictions, political ideals, and leadership aspirations with the prevailing situation in the party. Despite his loyalty and contributions over the years, he stated that the current atmosphere no longer aligned with his vision for purposeful leadership and effective representation, nor did it serve the best interests of his supporters.

Hon. Atilola, who contested as an aspirant for the Oyo State House of Assembly in 2023, expressed gratitude to the PDP leadership and members for the political exposure, experience, and platform the party provided him. He acknowledged the relationships built, lessons learned, and opportunities he enjoyed during his time in the party.

Announcing his intention to pursue future political ambitions outside the PDP, Hon. Atilola said his exit would allow him to focus on his next political move, guided by the collective interest of his people and a desire to contribute meaningfully to good governance and development.
