The leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW has uncovered plans by some agents of destabilization to cause mayhem in Oyo State and pin it down on members of the union.

According to a statement by the Deputy National Secretary of the NURTW, Comrade Kayode S. A. Agbeyangi, the group of blackmailers, purportedly acting on the instruction of the state Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde had cooked up criminal allegations and were planning to single out some members of the union as culprits.

Comrade Agbeyangi urged the Governor to investigate the matter thoroughly and refrain from acting the script of those planning to effect the arrest of NURTW members over cooked up allegations.

The Union’s Deputy National Secretary explained that the members of the union have continued to sustain the peace even when for political reasons they had been deprived of their means of livelihood with the ban on their activities in the state.

He maintained that rather than take laws into their hands or being confrontational in their approach, the union had channeled members grievances through the appropriate quarters by seeking redress at the courts of law, warning that the planned indiscriminate arrest of members in Oyo State allegedly endorsed by the Governor could cause chaos and breach of the peace if allowed to happen.

Comrade Agbeyangi appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to take necessary steps to unmask those behind the heinous plan to prevent a breakdown of law and order in the state.
