Former SDP By-Election Candidate, Isila Ibadan, Quits Party, Joins APM

Dr. Islamiyat Oluwatoyin Abdulkadir, popularly known as Isila Ibadan, has formally resigned her membership of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), bringing an end to her association with the party.

In a resignation letter addressed to the Oyo State Chairman of the SDP and the Chairman of the party in Ibadan North Local Government, Abdulkadir stated that her decision takes immediate effect, describing it as the outcome of careful personal reflection and one made in good faith.

She emphasized that her resignation was amicable and expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the party for the opportunity to serve under its platform.

“I hereby formally resign my membership of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), effective immediately. This decision has been made after careful personal reflection and is entirely amicable. It is taken in good faith and with deep respect for the party and its leadership,” the letter read.

The former SDP by-election candidate also expressed gratitude to the party’s national and state executives, as well as its various committees, for the support and encouragement she received during her time in the party.

She particularly appreciated the opportunity to contest in the recent by-election under the SDP platform, noting that the experience, exposure and relationships she built during the period contributed significantly to her political development.

Abdulkadir wished the SDP continued progress and success in its future activities.

Meanwhile, shortly after her resignation, Dr. Abdulkadir officially declared her membership of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in Oyo State.

Speaking on her decision to join the party, she pledged her total support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential aspiration and the governorship ambition of Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi ahead of the 2027 general elections.

She also promised to work closely with the leadership and executives of the APM across Oyo State to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and mobilise support for its candidates.

According to her, the decision to join the APM was driven by her commitment to contributing meaningfully to the state’s political development and ensuring the party records a resounding victory in the 2027 elections
