…….. Calls for Nationwide Mobilization

In a bold political move that could reshape grassroots mobilization across Oyo State and beyond, Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi, popularly known as BASA, has officially declared her defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Sarumi, a former Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Matters to Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde
resigned from PDP last Month, June, 12, citing lack of unity in that party as well as self-centredness of the leaders within the party.
In a statement issued announcing her defection, she
described her decision as a deeply considered step toward achieving a more inclusive and people-centered political future for Nigeria.
“Today marks a defining moment in my political journey and in the journey toward the Nigeria we all dream of,” Sarumi announced. “After deep reflection, extensive consultation, and prayerful consideration, I am convinced that the ADC is the political platform that best reflects the vision of a New Nigeria.”
Sarumi, who has long been a vocal advocate for youth and women empowerment through the Nigerian Youth and Women Rescue Mission, used the occasion to call for mass defection of her supporters into the ADC.
She specifically urged her coordinators across all local governments and wards in Oyo State to align with the party and begin immediate mobilization efforts.
“This is the time to stand up and be counted. Mobilization has begun, and the movement must grow stronger and louder than ever before,” she said.
Beyond Oyo State, Sarumi extended her rallying call to women and youth across Nigeria, highlighting their pivotal role in transforming the country’s political narrative.
“To the young people watching today: your energy, your ideas, your dreams—they matter. Nigeria needs your voice. Nigeria needs your courage,” she stated. “To the women of Nigeria: our strength is unmatched, our hearts unshaken. It’s time to rewrite the story.”
Sarumi emphasized that her move to the ADC signals a desire to build a new political culture—one rooted in transparency, inclusivity, and action. She described the ADC as a “clean slate” for those yearning for real change.
With Sarumi’s influence, particularly among grassroots networks and youth-led organizations, her defection to ADC is expected to bolster the party’s visibility and structure ahead of upcoming political contests.
