Communities Cry Out, Beg Gov. Makinde To Fulfill 2019 Promise

Residents of Wire And Cable, Ire Akari, Alada, Agbofieti, and some neighboring communities have urged the Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde to fulfill the promise he made to them during his election campaign in 2019.

The residents said that Governor Seyi Makinde while seeking their votes for his election in 2019 promised to rehabilitate the only major road that links over 35 communities at Wire and Cable in Apata, Ido local government.

In a jointly released statement, the communities acknowledged the unrelenting effort of Governor Makinde to continue to embark on building infrastructure that impacts the economy of the state.

They commended the governor for his impact on infrastructural development in Ido local government, emphasizing on the recently commissioned Omi Adio-Ido Junction Road and the ongoing reconstruction of Ido-Eruwa road.

The residents however beg the state governor to extend his inner road fixing project to them at Wire and Cable with the neighboring communities.

According to leaders of the communities, they said, the only road that links Wire and Cable to Agbofieti serves 35 communities, but it has been deplorable and has worsened due to the negligence of the government over the years.

They said that Governor Seyi Makinde experienced how bad the road was when he visited them to seek votes during his election campaign in 2019 and promised rehabilitation within 100 days in office if elected.

“it is five years gone, and the governor seemed to have forgotten he made such a promise to us”.
