Chief Bode George Ibadan Meeting : Our Party Crisis Yet To Be Resolved – Oyo PDP Stakeholders

Major Stakeholders of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state on Sunday said the meeting held with a National Chieftain of the party, Chief Bode George and the Executive Governor of the state, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde on Friday was fruitless and unsuccessful.

This is in total contradiction to a statement credited to the Chairman of Oyo State Pacesetter Transport Corporation, Hon. Dare Adeleke who announced to some bloggers that the Bode George reconciliation meeting was successful.

According to the stakeholders, there was no resolution on all issues raised at the meeting. The stakeholders’ statement said, “the Friday night meeting with Governor Seyi Makinde was far from resolving matters, adding that there are many salient issues concerning the progress of the party that are yet to be resolved”.

However, they commended Chief Bode George for his efforts in ensuring that the concerns of the teeming members of the party across the state are addressed. But, we urged the chairman, Oyo Peacesetter Transport Company Dare Adeleke, not to mislead party faithfuls, as the lingering issues within Oyo PDP is far from over.

The stakeholders in a statement signed by Hon. Micheal Okunlade, said Governor Makinde shenanigans attitude to the party in Oyo state is a matter of serious concern for members.

Statement read : “We, the stakeholders of Oyo state People’s Democratic Party appreciated the presence of our party national leader, Chief Bode George and his effort to reconcile Oyo PDP.

“Our attention have been drawn to a press statement made by Oyo Peacesetter Transport Company Chairman, Hon. Dare Adeleke who claimed that Friday reconciliation meeting of Oyo PDP was successful.

“The truth is that, the stakeholders met with the governor but there are salient issues that are yet to be resolved, especially the issue of local government election and other important issues that have to do with the unity and cohesion in Oyo PDP

“At the meeting, the party stakeholders registered their displeasure over Governor Makinde’s decision to sideline the party stakeholders and leaders on the party primaries.

“At the meeting, the party stakeholders made known their rejection over some chairmanship and counselorship slots given to those who doesn’t obtained nomination form and to none party members.

“The stakeholders at the meeting, at the presence of Governor Seyi Makinde and Chief Bode George analyzed how Governor Seyi Makinde has been mishandling the party affairs and neglecting the importance of the party stakeholders and leaders.

“The stakeholders believed that, Since those aforementioned issues were raised at the meeting and was not sincerely addressed by governor Makinde and resolved at the meeting, so, it is clear that, the aim of the meeting was not achieved and the crisis rocking our party still continues.

“As for now, we the stakeholders of Oyo PDP are seeing Governor Makinde seeing himself bigger than the party and of truly he want to reconcile with the party stakeholders, he need to sift ground in some his is harsh decision concerning our Party PDP.”
