The Ag. Rector of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, Dr. Gbade Akinteye today commissioned a newly installed solar energy system at its Central Administrative Building, funded through a donation received from Prince ‘Yinka Afonja, MD/CEO of Ace Supermarket. The installation marks the first phase of the ₦10 million commitment he announced during the Institution’s second combined convocation ceremony held a few months ago.

Prince Afonja had pledged the funds to support two key projects—the installation of a solar power system for the administrative building and the refurbishment of the Institution’s health centre bus. True to his word, the donor released the funds promptly, enabling the successful completion of the solar project, which was formally unveiled during a brief commissioning ceremony attended by the Management team, Deans of faculties, Directors, and other invited dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, the Acting Rector, Dr. ‘Gbade Akinteye, expressed profound gratitude to Prince Yinka Afonja for his uncommon generosity, especially as he is neither an alumnus of the polytechnic nor an indigene of the region.

Dr. Akinteye described the gesture as a remarkable act of community development and urged other philanthropists to emulate the donor’s commitment to educational advancement.

Deans present at the event also commended Prince Afonja for his support and praised the Acting Rector for ensuring that the funds were used transparently and strictly for the intended purpose.

The Acting Rector added that plans are already underway to refurbish the health centre’s Ambulance within the coming weeks. He also revealed that a new motorcycle will be procured to enhance the mobility of staff members working within and outside the Institution’s Clinic.
