APC Disqualifies Late Ajimobi’s Brother, In-Law, Repete, Others From Oyo Senate Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified several senatorial aspirants in Oyo State ahead of Monday’s primary election, including relatives of the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi, and other prominent party figures.
The party announced that the affected aspirants failed to meet its established screening criteria following an exercise conducted by the APC Screening Committees in line with the party’s guidelines and procedures.

Among those disqualified are former APC National Deputy Youth Leader, Afeez Bolaji Repete, who aspired to contest for the Oyo Central Senatorial District; Ademola Wasiu Alli, also from Oyo Central; Wasiu Ajimobi, younger brother of the late former governor, for Oyo South; Kolapo Daisi, son-in-law to the late Ajimobi, for Oyo South; Faozey Oladotun for Oyo Central; Ambassador Akinremi Alade for Oyo South; and Hussain Yusuff for Oyo North.
The development cuts across the three senatorial districts in the state and is expected to reshape the contest ahead of the party primaries.
Meanwhile, aspirants cleared by the party to participate in the primaries include Hon. Remi Oseni for Oyo South, Senator Yunus Akintunde for Oyo Central, Prof. Adeolu Akande for Oyo North, Mrs. Hannah Ogunesan for Oyo North, and Col. Adegbola, also for Oyo North.
The latest disqualifications have further heightened tension within the ruling party in Oyo State amid lingering disagreements over alleged consensus arrangements and internal power struggles ahead of the 2027 general elections.

As of the time of filing this report, none of the affected aspirants had officially indicated whether they would challenge their disqualification through the party’s internal dispute resolution channels.
