Akinjide Fagbemi Organises Female Football Competition In Honor Of Late Dad In Ibarapa

History was made in the ancient land of Ibarapa when DAFF organizes the first of its kind female football competition in Ibarapa land. According to the Founder of the NGO, Dominic Akinjide Fagbemi, the foundation was in honour of his late father, Chief Noah Fagbemi who died exactly a year ago(25/02/2020).

When quizzed on the reason the football competition was organized for the females instead of what’s regarded as the norms(Football competition for Men), the Director of Operations of the foundation: Badiu, Akinola AKINBODE said the Founder’s late Dad, a patriotic son of the soil from Sagan-un, Igboora, Ibarapa land was a great Philanthropist who committed his life to the development of youths and the aged; regardless of their gender in his lifetime.

Words on the lips of every sons and daughters of Ibarapa land for the past weeks was how DAFF truly made itself the “Father of all foundations”. In less than just three months of its existence, doing what no one has ever done in our land; unifying the young and old, men and women, artisans, business men and teachers who trooped out daily to watch young female talents dazzling the spectators with the round leather game.

The Football Competition’s Team lead: Mr Owolabi Kehinde said that the founder of DAFF: ‘Jide Fagbemi has promised that this is just but the beginning of this competition as it will now be an annual competition with the intention to raise the next “Asisat Oshoala” from Ibarapa land.

16 teams participated in the competition with Aseyori queens triumphing above others to clinch the #150,00 cash prize, Prince Kazeem Royal Queens came second with a cash prize of #100,000 while Young Talent 99 queens and Phoenix queens were awarded #80,000 and #60,000 naira respectively for their efforts in being the 3rd & 4th placed teams.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the competition, Highest goal scorer and the Best goalkeeper were all financially rewarded.

Dignitaries present at the competition’s final were the founder/CEO of DAFF: Mr Dominic Akinjide Fagbemi, Mr Goke Adeoye, Chief Toriola Tokunbo, Mr Rokeeb Adeniji, Mr Asasile Israel(Ideology) and Hon. Ademola Ojo who was represented by the manager of Heritage resort: Mr Sodiq ‘De-Culture’ amongst many others.
