Adeojo Installs Solar Streetlights at Security Posts, Supports Local Vigilante Group in Ido LG

The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has intensified efforts to strengthen grassroots security with the installation of solar-powered streetlights across key security formations and the donation of a bicycle to a local vigilante group.
The initiative, unveiled shortly after the council’s monthly security meeting held at the Executive Hall of the Ido Local Government Secretariat, is aimed at improving nighttime visibility, deterring criminal activities, and enhancing operational efficiency among security agencies.

Beneficiaries of the solar streetlights include police stations in Ile Ido, Omi Apata, Eleyele, Apata, Kuola, Oke Alaro, and Apete, each receiving six units. Additional allocations were made to Operation Burst and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, with six units each. The Ologuneru Police Station, the Department of State Services, and the Federal Road Safety Corps received two units each, while the Immigration Office was provided with one unit.
In a related gesture, Adeojo presented a bicycle to “Omo Ode Agbekoya,” a non-conventional security outfit operating opposite Bakatari Market, to support their mobility and effectiveness in community surveillance.
Security representatives at the meeting expressed appreciation for the chairman’s intervention, pledging renewed commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the local government.
Adeojo, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of synergy among security agencies, assuring continued support from his administration.

“This initiative reaffirms our priority on security as the foundation of progress,” he said. “We remain dedicated partners in keeping Ido calm, secure, and prosperous for all residents and businesses.”
The event was attended by key stakeholders, including the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Kamorudeen Gbadamosi; the Baale of Bakatari, Chief Taoreed Ayodele; Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaji Sarafadeen Aminu; Director of Administration and General Services, Mr. Victor Adelu; and religious leaders such as Sheikh Waliyullah Sanusi, represented by Alhaji Sakirulahi Akanbi, and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Chairman in Ido, Pastor Sunday Egbedokun, among others.
