The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, on Tuesday distributed school bags to pupils in 18 public primary schools across the council area as part of efforts to support basic education and reduce the financial burden on parents.
The exercise is the second phase of the chairman’s school bag distribution programme, following an earlier distribution to pupils in 16 primary schools within the local government.
Speaking during the distribution, Adeojo said the initiative was in fulfilment of his administration’s commitment to provide every public primary school pupil in Ido Local Government with a school bag before the end of September.
“We started the distribution in phases. We have already covered 16 schools, and today we are distributing to pupils in another 18 schools. By September, we will ensure that every pupil in public primary schools across Ido Local Government receives a school bag,” he said.
The council chairman noted that the initiative is aimed at encouraging school enrolment and attendance, motivating pupils to excel academically, and providing learning support for children across the local government.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector through sustained investment in pupils’ welfare, school infrastructure, and other interventions that promote quality basic education.
The latest beneficiaries were drawn from 18 primary schools across different communities in the local government. The schools include Baptist Basic School, Ateere; St. Paul Anglican Basic School, Araromi; N.U.D. Basic School, Ido; St. Peter Basic School, Ateere; Baptist Primary School, Odetola; I.D.C. Basic School, Okunawo; St. John Basic School, Fenwa; I.D.C. Basic School, Latayo; I.D.C. Basic School, Okokogboro; C.A.C. Basic School, Okulu; Community Basic School, Onifufu; Community Basic School, Abule Ayo; Community Basic School, Gbeleba; St. Peter Anglican Basic School 4, Apete; Islamic Mission Basic School 3, Omi Adio; Islamic Mission Basic School 2, Omi Adio; Community Primary School, Ido; and Community Primary School, Omi Adio.
The distribution forms part of the Adeojo administration’s broader education support programme, which seeks to improve learning conditions and enhance access to quality primary education for children across Ido Local Government.
