A major road accident involving six vehicles occurred early Tuesday morning at the Soka area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, causing significant disruption and triggering an emergency response.
The crash, which happened around 8:00 a.m., involved three Nissan Micra taxis and three articulated trailers. Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that all vehicles were traveling from the Iwo Road axis in Ibadan when the collision occurred under unclear circumstances.
As of the time of this report, the number of casualties has not been confirmed. The Oyo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is currently on-site. Sector Commandant, Mrs. Rosemary Alo, confirmed that rescue operations are still ongoing, and efforts are being made to determine the extent of injuries and possible fatalities.
Emergency responders are working to free individuals trapped in the wreckage and provide immediate medical care to those injured. The accident has caused heavy traffic congestion along the affected stretch of the expressway.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while emergency operations continue.
