Oyo To Partner National Boundary Commission On Land Dispute Resolution

 

The Oyo State Deputy Governor and Chairman State Boundary Committee, Barr. Bayo Lawal has expressed the readiness of the State government to cooperate with National Boundary Commission but will not cede an inch of its territory.

He made this stand known at a meeting with the delegation of the National Boundary Commission who are on a mission to resolve the boundary dispute between the State and Osun State.

The meeting which had in attendance, the Ekerin Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Amidu Ajibade and some concerned traditional rulers in Lagelu and Surulere local government areas of the State, relevant government officials and solicitors on the communities in dispute.

The delegation of the National Boundary Commission led by the Director General, Surveyor Adamu Adaju, stated that the issue of boundary dispute between the state and Osun States is already a concern with the continued hostilities between the people of the affected communities.

He disclosed that the delegation had earlier held similar meeting with the Osun State Boundary committee and sought the ingenuity of both the state governments at resolving the disputes ahead of another meeting to be held with the joint committee of the two states.
