Our Students Now Go For NYSC Few Months After Graduation, Adeseun Ogundoyin Poly Ag. Rector Boasts

The acting rector of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa Oyo state has revealed that gone are the days when the graduated students from the institution wait for years before being called up for National Youth Service Corps, said having cleared all the backlogs, all fresh grants go NYSC few months after their final year exams.

Dr. Gbade Akinteye boasted during a press conference held for the commencement of activities marking the first-ever Convocation ceremony at the institution.

It will be recalled that Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic over the years was unable to mobilize its graduating students for the one-year compulsory National Youth Service, due to some issues but, the school acting rector, Akinteye confirmed to pressmen on Monday that, the school now competing with other institutions when it comes to fast processing of students results and modification for NYSC. ” We now mobilize our students for NYSC regularly, even, those that wrote their final exams last January went to NYSC camp this April. This shows the school management’s commitment.

In his speech, Akinteye said it took the institution’s management and staff a lot of sacrifices and commitment, and government support to keep the institution running.

The acting rector who said, the institution got autonomy in 2014, from the then Oyo State Government but did not give any take-off grant to the institution, acknowledged the immense effort of the state’s present governor, Seyi Makinde, said despite most of the course offering at the institution been accredited, explained that the school has also submitted a request to the National Board For Technical Education for re-accreditations and accreditation of new courses.

Akinteye added that, the school in its commitment over the years after autonomy with several failed attempts able to conduct the first computer-based Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME ).

Speaking further, Akinteye said,
the Institution now offers a wide array of ND and HND programs, including Daily Part-Time (DPT) programs across four faculties, hinting that, all of the offered programs have been accredited and listed on JAMB’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

The school management staff with the acting rector at the press conference were; Deputy Rector, Mr. Asimiyu Oladeji, acting Registrar, Mr. Dele Oladipo, acting Bursar, Mr. Segun Oladipo.

Dean, Faculty of Management Studies – Mr. J. O. Ojo, Dean, Faculty of Engineering Science – Mr. A. A. Ayandepo, Dean, Faculty of Science – Mr. A. A. Rafiu, Dean, Faculty of Engineering – Engr. T. M. Sangotola and Dean, Student Affairs – Mr. A. A. Araromi

Directors present also include, Director of Academic Planning – Dr. E. A. Oke, Director of  Training Research and Development – Mr. O. M. Olaleye, and Former Director of Training, Research, and Development, Mr. K.O Oladeji including the Chief Imam of the Institution Mr. Bello.

 

Meanwhile, the acting reactor with the school management also took the pressmen on a walk to inspect completed projects done by the students which will be exhibited on Wednesday as part of the long week of activities of the convocation ceremony.

Projects already billed to feature in the exhibition include: Locust bean dehulling Machine, Ceramics, Wood carving, painting work, Graphic design, Textiles, Lampshades, electronic visual display, and others.

Having started with the activities scheduled for the first-ever convocation of the institution on Friday 12th with Juma’at Service held at the school central Mosque and Interdenominational Church Service held at the institution Chapel a meeting with the press held yesterday at the Rector’s conference room, other activities from today, Wednesday, 17th include, Environmental Sanitation / Funfair Day with each Department, starting from 8.00 am – 5.00 pm

Convocation Lecture follows on Thursday, the 18th, lecture to be delivered by Dr. Festus Adedayo, with the title, Reinventing Polytechnic Education for 21st Century Nigeria, the lecture will take place at the Institution Assembly Hall by 3.00 pm prompt.

A Cocktail Party with only guests invited
will follow the same day at the Fine and Applied Arts Department, Quadrangle Complex by 6.00 pm prompt.

On Friday, there will be a Foundation Laying of the Alumni Building at the Alumni Site by 9.00 am, while the scheduled combined Maiden Convocation Ceremony for graduated students will hold at the institution’s Sports Field, starting at 10. am.
