40km Road Networks Claims: Ajimobi’s Handover Notes Too Voluminous To Study For Makinde | Morufu Smith

“Modernization and dualization of major entry roads into the major cities and towns in the Seven (7) Geopolitical Zones of the State (Ibadan city, Ibadan outer city, Oyo, Ogbomosho, Iseyin, Saki, Ibarapa) covering 61.85 km. Construction of road networks and bridges across all geopolitical zones in the state totalling 582km”.

The above statements were extracted from Abiola Ajimobi: the Legacy of a Transformer.

I believe the number of kilometers of roads rehabilitated and constructed by the administration of Senator Abiola Ajimobi was contained in the voluminous handover notes submitted to the current administration. However, with the recent statement credited to Governor Seyi Makinde that the administration of Abiola Ajimobi did not rehabilitate and construct more than 40km stretch of roads across the State, there are some questions to ask. Is it that the handover notes are too voluminous to study by the current administration, even if it would be too stressful to do physical inspection of the road networks constructed and rehabilitated? Or is Governor Makinde still obsessed with giving the past administration a bad name by deliberately misleading Oyo citizens?

There’s one thing Governor Makinde has failed to notice, and it’s that his recent spurious outbursts about the few kilometres of roads built by the last administration did not generate approvals he expected from the citizens. The reason isn’t farfetched. The over 600km road networks rehabilitated and constructed by Abiola Ajimobi administration are being plied by the same people Governor Makinde is bent on misleading.
