2027 Politics: Makinde Reveals Wike’s Deal With Tinubu

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has made fresh revelations on the deepening crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of allegedly offering to work against the party’s interests ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Makinde made the disclosure while reflecting on his personal background and addressing the ongoing disagreement between him and the former Rivers State governor over the direction of the PDP.
Recounting his early career, the Oyo governor said he achieved significant success in the private sector long before venturing into politics.
“Ok, my friend Wike. In my hands here is my first-ever contract with Mobil. It was a one-million-dollar contract awarded to my company, Macron. In one year, I made one million dollars personally. I was 29 years old and that was in 1997,” Makinde said.
He noted that around the same period, Wike had just completed Law School and was beginning his political journey.

“Wike, perhaps at that time, had just left Law School, and his next job after that was becoming a Local Government Chairman. His political trajectory went up from there,” the governor added.
Makinde stressed that his remarks were not motivated by personal animosity but by concerns over the integrity and future of the PDP.
“I don’t beef anybody, but the real issue is this,” he said, before narrating events from a high-level political meeting.
According to Makinde, he was present at a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Wike, the President’s Chief of Staff, and other top officials when Wike allegedly made a controversial pledge.
“I was in a meeting with President Tinubu and Nyesom Wike. I am saying this in the open. The President’s Chief of Staff and others were there when Wike volunteered to hold the PDP for Tinubu against 2027, and I was in shock,” Makinde alleged.
He said the statement prompted him to confront Wike privately after the meeting.
“When we got up and we were at the veranda, I asked Wike, ‘Did we agree to this?’” Makinde said.
The allegation has added a new dimension to the PDP’s internal crisis, which has been marked by disputes over party leadership, loyalty, and strategic alliances ahead of the 2027 elections. As of the time of filing this report, neither Wike nor the Presidency has officially responded to Makinde’s claims.
Political observers say the development underscores the growing uncertainty within the opposition party as it struggles to maintain unity and reposition itself nationally.
