In an efforts to fulfil his promises of promoting youth education, the immediate past Commissioner for Finance and Budget Planning in Oyo state Mr. Bimbo Adekanmbi on Wednesday hosted candidates who benefitted from his 2019 free UTME forms.
The Bimbo Adekanmbi 2019 free UTME beneficiaries with 200 scores and above were engaged on their admission status with a launch with the former commissioner for finance in Ibadan.
Adekanmbi while addressing the beneficiaries congratulated them for scoring a required marks that qualified them into gaining admission into their preffered institutions.
He said also with a score that qualified them for his scholarship programme, his intention is not only to buy JAMB forms for candidates but also to monitor and sponsor indigent students in any federal university of their choice.
“ We are not only buying forms for our students to gain admissions but we are also following their progress in their respective higher institutions of learning, especially, to support their welfare and monitor their achievements”, he stated.
“Last time, we bought forms for more than 200 students but you are here today as the selected one who have also distinguished yourselves by coming out in flying colour.
“ You have passed through the first phase, which is UTME exam , you got the required pass mark, the second phase is Bimbo Adekaalso schorlarship scheme, we promised scholarship to successful and indigent students, we will not relent here after UTME results, our promise was that, there will be a scholarship for each student with highest score from each of the 11 local government areas of Oyo central that got admitted with our 2019 free UTME programme into any of the Nigerian federal university of choice
“We promised and we will surely keep to it, just keep updating us your admission status and let know when you got an admission with our 2019 UTME, Adekanmbi stated.
One of the beneficiaries, Ajadi Afeez who scored 267, thanks the former Oyo commissioner for Finance for his philanthropic gesture and his plans to equip indigent students.
While speaking, Ajadi who is from Amuloko area, Ona Ara local government narrated the problem he is facing about his admission, seek Bimbo Adekanmbi further assistance in actualizing his dream course.
A parent, Mr. Makinde Oyedele at the event commended Bimbo Adekanmbi for his kind heart, said the opportunity given to her daughter, Itunu Makinde has been used positively.
“ My daughter, Makinde Itunu, sat for JAMB twice before 2019 but failed, she is one of the candidates that benefited from Bimbo Adekanmbi free 2019 UTME, Luckily, she passed this time with Mr. Bimbo free form, now on the verge of gaining admission.
Present beneficiaries are : Wasiu Rofeehat, Surajudeen Ibrahim, Hamzat Taofeek, Oni Fatimah and Yekeen Adulai.
Other beneficiaries who were also present were Aderigbe Hikman, Akinyemi Oyindamola, Taofeek Akinola, Yekeen Abdulai, Alli Aishat and Adedeji Fahidat.
Adekanmbi speaking with westerndailynews reporter after at the event, he said, the free UTME programme is continoues and all is set to roll out the free forms for 2021 UTME forms.
He said, his 2021 UTME forms is for all interested candidates in Ibadan and Ibarapa zones.
