House of Representatives member, Dr. Aderemi Oseni, has declared his support for power rotation in Oyo State, stating that he is prepared to hand over to Oke-Ogun if elected as governor in the 2027 general election.

Speaking with reporters in Lagos yesterday, Oseni, who represents Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency and hails from Ibadan, said, “You cannot fight grace.” He emphasized the importance of political dialogue and unity among the various regions in Oyo State, calling on stakeholders from Ibadan and Oke-Ogun to come together and agree on a framework for power sharing.

“The people of Oke Ogun and Ibadan have to meet and arrive at an ‘MOU’ on power rotation,” he said.

Oseni, an engineer and Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), stressed that negotiation remains a vital component of politics. He pledged that if he becomes governor in 2027, he would initiate talks to ensure a smooth transition of power to the Oke-Ogun zone.

“If elected as Oyo governor, I would meet the people of Ibadan and tell them that I would hand over to Oke-Ogun through renegotiation,” he said.

On his broader political aspirations, he stated, “I am positioning myself for higher responsibilities. When desirability is not available, availability would be desirable.”

Speaking on his political ambitions, he noted: “I am positioning myself for higher responsibilities. When desirability is not available, availability would be desirable.”

Oseni also addressed internal issues within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State. He confirmed that party leaders have agreed to rebuild the chapter following recent electoral setbacks, including the loss in the House of Representatives by-election.

He admitted that internal missteps played a role in the party’s defeat: “The party had made some mistakes in the past which should not be repeated.”

He commended efforts made by the APC during the by-election, noting that although the party tried to match the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, the results highlighted the need for greater cohesion and preparation.

Now serving as Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Oseni said that steps are being taken to mobilise voters ahead of the continuous voter registration exercise.

He stressed the importance of unity within the party and strategic mobilisation as critical components for the APC’s success in the 2027 elections.
