The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has donated One Million Naira (₦1,000,000) to the Muslim Community of Apete, Awotan, Ayegun, and Environs, following their presentation of a prestigious “Defender of Rights” award.
The honour celebrates his tireless efforts in promoting Muslim community growth, development, and regional upliftment through proactive initiatives.
The award was presented during the community’s Ramadan Lecture at the Islamic Center behind Apete Motor Garage. Professor Musibau Titiloye from the University of Ibadan, as Chairman of the occasion, led the presentation alongside Alhaji Basheer Omotosho, Chairman of the Muslim Community of Apete, Awotan, Ayegun, and Environs.
Community leaders commended Hon. Adeojo, stating: “Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, as Defender of Rights, in recognition of your efforts to the growth and development of Muslims. Your inspiration remains an inspiration to us all. Today, we celebrate you for your excellence and proactive impact on our Muslim community so far. Thanks for being part of our success story.”
In response, Hon. Adeojo praised the community’s steadfast commitment to propagating Islam and fostering unity. “I am deeply humbled by this honour,” he said. “Your dedication inspires us all. True to the legacy of my late father, Alhaji Chief Dr. Yekini Ayode Adeojo, I pledge full support to your initiatives. Islam’s teachings on community welfare align perfectly with our local government goals for sustainable development.”
The donation, made on behalf of his late father, will advance the ongoing Islamic Center project, reinforcing interfaith harmony and local development in Ido.
Accompanying Hon. Adeojo were key officials: Alhaji Kamorudeen Gbadamosi (Local Government Secretary), Hon. AbdulAzeez Yahya (Chief of Staff), Hon. Olubukola Folorunso (Supervisor for Information), Alhaji Sarafadeen Aminu (Head of Local Government Administration), Mr. Adedeji Gbadebo (Director of Finance and Supplies), and Comrade Kamil Raji (NULGE Chairman), among others.
