Police Arraign Two For Alleged Robbery

Two middle-aged men, Waris Wasiu and Ishola Oyelere were on Monday arraigned before an Ibadan Magistrate Court for alleged robbery.

The Suspects, both 24years with others at large, were alleged to have attacked some people with stones, cutlasses and sticks at Orita Aperin Ibadan on February 9, 2020, collected money and phone from them. 

According to the Police Prosecutor Mrs. Gbemisola Adedeji, the victims of the alleged criminal act are Oladejo Jamiu from whom they collected one hundred and sixteen thousand and Techno phone, Wasiu Rasheed from whom they collected ten thousand naira, with a phone worth thirty eight thousand Naira. 

The suspects were also accused of stealing ten thousand naira and itel phone five thousand five hundred naira from one Adebayo Mohammed.

The prosecutor told the court that she had seven witnesses against the suspects, saying investigations were still on to get other suspects who were at large. 

The suspects pleaded not guilty to the five count charge read to them. 

Counsel to the defendants, Mr.  Temitope Suluka applied for bail for the suspects and appealed to the court to grant them bail on liberal term. 

Ruling on the bail application which was not opposed by the prosecution, the Magistrate O A Akande granted the suspects bail of fifty thousand naira each with one surety in like sum.  

The case has been adjourned till March 9, 2020
