A peace and security meeting was held in Ido Local Government, with various issues discussed to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. The meeting began with an opening prayer by the representative of the Chief Imam of Ido LG.
The Deputy Director of Administration and General Services read the minutes of the last meeting, highlighting progress made on previous issues. Discussions centered around a case of Fulani and farmers invading farms in Ile Ido area, where the police had held series of settlement meetings to curb the situation.
Additionally, burglars had invaded the community, breaking into various houses, but the police had arrested 44 Ghanaians in connection with the burglary in the Araromi area of Apete. A land dispute between two teams in Ologuneru division was also resolved.
The police reported various incidents, including a case of handset robbery on a bike at Kuola Police Division, which is still under investigation, and a cult clash in Apete that resulted in shooting, but the suspects fled upon seeing police vehicles. Another robbery case was reported at Araromi on August 24, 2024, where jewelry was stolen from people leaving a club at night.

Other issues discussed included electricity-related conflicts in the community, a kidnapping case in Ido that was thwarted by the police, and an incident where a man was nearly subjected to jungle justice for allegedly hiding in a house toilet. A religious crisis in Alaaka was also neutralized after a dispute over leadership of a mosque. The NSCDC also reported invasion into people’s farms and removal of brain boxes from vehicles in the community.
The Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, expressed concern over the robbery cases in Ido and market day traffic jams, which the FRSC promised to address. He announced financial assistance for some security agencies, including N200,000 for NSCDC Apete for office renovation, N100,000 for FRSC, and N200,000 for DPO Eleyele Police Division. He invited other security divisions to submit formal requests for assistance.

The meeting aimed to address these issues and promote peace and security in the community.
