Oyo State Govt. Partners with ANPA to Deliver Free Medical Outreach to Residents
The Oyo State Government has launched a Free Medical Mission in partnership with the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA), aimed at delivering essential medical services to residents of the state. The initiative, which began on April 6, is scheduled to conclude on April 8, 2025, and is being hosted in Ibadan Northeast Local Government Area.

The outreach provides a wide range of medical services, including blood pressure screening, malaria testing, general medical consultations, and the distribution of free medications, generously donated by MedPlus Pharmaceutical Limited. The medical team comprises approximately 20 Nigerian physicians based in the United States, who volunteered their expertise to support the initiative.
During the flag-off event, the First Lady of Oyo State, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, extended her appreciation to ANPA and the Managing Director of MedPlus Pharmaceutical Limited, Pharmacist Joke Bakare, for their generosity and commitment to improving the health of Oyo residents.
Mrs. Makinde praised the ANPA President, Dr. Cliff Eke, his team, and the Oyo State Ministry of Health for their collaboration in ensuring that residents receive free and accessible healthcare.
Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, expressed gratitude to the ANPA delegation for partnering with the state to strengthen healthcare delivery. She emphasized the administration’s ongoing efforts to transform the health sector across Oyo State under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Dr. Ajetunmobi noted that numerous Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities have been equipped across all 33 Local Government Areas, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upgrading health infrastructure in alignment with its mandate for universal health coverage.
She encouraged all beneficiaries of the outreach to follow through with their treatment plans and emphasized the importance of maintaining good health. The Commissioner also announced that the state will soon launch an expanded free medical program, including surgical interventions, that will reach communities across Oyo State.

In his remarks, ANPA President, Dr. Cliff Eke, highlighted that ANPA’s annual medical outreach program is part of its mission to give back to Nigeria. He stated that the choice of Oyo State this year reflects the association’s recognition of the strides made by Governor Makinde in strengthening the healthcare system.
“Our objective is to provide free, easy access to quality healthcare for the people of Oyo State,” said Dr. Eke. “We commend the state government’s efforts and look forward to deepening this partnership in the future.”
This collaborative mission underscores the Makinde administration’s ongoing commitment to inclusive, quality, and people-centered healthcare for all residents of Oyo State.
