Oyo Crown Prince, Siyanbola Oladigbolu Speaks On Bonafide Crown Prince, Oyomesi’s Weak Selection Process

An exploratory adventure with the biological grandson of the late Alaafin Ladigbolu, Prince Siyanbola Oladigbolu.

Pleasantries : Happy weekend to you, Prince Siyanbola

Good afternoon to my dear brother.

Q1: we have about 68 contenders contesting. What makes you a crown prince among others

A: I am the youngest surviving biological grandson of Alaafin Siyanbola Oladigbolu Oladigbolu.

Q2: What about others

A: The majority of contestants are relations. There’s a clearer dichotomy between Prince and crown Princes.

The owner of the ticket to the throne of Alaafin now is late Alaafin Siyanbola Oladigbolu Ladigbolu (my grandfather).
Like I mentioned earlier, being the youngest surviving biological grandson doesn’t mean I am the only grandson. We still have an 86-year-old Prince Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu, Prince Amidu Ladigbolu, Prince Saani Kolade Ladigbolu. All i am saying is that we should be the first consideration of any procedures to appoint the new Alaafin.

Q3: Why should the authority or kingmakers consider you Princes first?

A: Because we are the blueblood princes.

Q4: If the blueblood Princes are just four in numbers, how come we have 86 Princes

A: That question should be directed to the kingmakers and the government. maybe they helped us to locate some of our family members we haven’t met before. How the names reflected 86, I don’t know.

However, they have broken another Guinness book of record, and I will push for that recognition when I am less busy. The first family in the world to produce 86 Princes to the kingmakers. While only one person would be installed.

Q5: What happened during screening, don’t they initiate any method of identification before screening?

A: Did I just hear you mentioning screening? Please don’t say that again. I have never in my life seen such a screening before. Let me give you a simple analysis of the kind of screening conducted on us.

They only asked me three questions, and those questions can be easily answered by a palmwine tapper.

The first question was, what is your name and your father’s name, while the 2nd question was, why do you want to be Alaafin and lastly who has become Alaafin before.

I consider those questions as normal questions. The head of my company’s human resources would ask ordinary cleaner or a gate man before employment.

Such questions were not tangible enough to serve as evidence for a befitting candidate to fill the vacuum created by the late Alaafin of Oyo. Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.

Q6: Are you saying those answers weren’t sophisticated enough to produce an alaafin?

A: mentioning my father’s stool with such questions is an insult to the supreme oyo dynasty. I just told you any vulcanizer can answer those questions.

When I entered the screening hall, it was then i realised I have wasted one full week of my precious time perusing the copies of historical books given to me by my dad. Prince Azeez Akano Siyanbola. I was so prepared as if I was going for a PhD. final exam , not knowing my 8 years old son would answer the questions while sleeping .

After telling them my name and my father’s name, nobody made findings if I am a true grandson of oba ladigbolu, nobody went to my compound and asked my family who I am, even no one cares to know what I do for a living.

Has any one of the kingmakers summoned the elders of oyo town to find out who my father, Prince azeez oladigbolu, is?

Are you saying if you want to pick a gorvernorship candidate, once he answers the questions, you won’t do your findings? You will definitely.

Q:7 I think there’s a head of kingmakers. What is he doing about issues

A: The head of oyo Princes has a pivotal role to play. One of his major ethical responsibilities is to identify the real princes. The present ocupant of the position is Chief mikhail afonja Baba-iyaji. If anyone presents false information , it is his full responsibility to counter it. However, I didn’t know the strength of his verification , so I can’t challenge an old, lovely man.

Q:8 Are you familiar with the head of princes, Baba’yaji

A: The word “familiarity”is an understatement. He is like a father to me. I knew him before he became the head of princes. In fact, his predecessors, late Baba-iyaji sanda maradesa, was very close to my dad. Both successor and predecessor knew my dad as biological son of late alaafin ladigbolu.

Q9: What of Oyomesi members , do you know them.

A: I knew them all. This might sound so funny, but It is a reality. I know both the current Basorun of Oyo, High Chief Yusuff Ayoola, and his predecessor, late Chief Tijani Eesuola, who passed away early millennium. The late Basorun’s wife , Ayinba, was my mother’s neighbour at Oja Akesan. I used to go there to go and eat regularly for free of charge. Late Basorun’s grandson (Qodri) is my friend till tomorrow. We used to play football back then.

I was at the palace till 12am in year 2004 ,during the installation of the current Basorun of Oyo.

High chief Lamidi Oyewale. Samu of Oyo was my father’s client. Chief Samu went to his first Hajj in 1978 through my father’s hajj and humrah services’ company . Anyone can confirm who Kolade and Sons Hajj Services was in the 70s to mid millennium. Go and ask Chief Samu. He will tell you I am not just a Prince but the Crown Prince.

Late chief Alapinni, may his soul rest in peace. One of his sons is my classmates in secondary school, and we always play at their house at Apini , where you see masquerades symbols till tomorrow. Or is it the current Agbaakin you want to talk about? Both the current and his predecessor have always offered their jumat prayers in my father’s central mosque at Oke Agunpopo since the early 80s. The late Agbaakin normally called my father Omo- Ola Meji. Literally means a dual blessed soul , big Alufa, and royal Prince .

I am one of the princes with no plenty of stories to identify. Ask anyone in Oyo, and they will tell you who BABA OMOOBA GBORO OR ALAHAJI LAISI OMOOBA GBORO IS. NO STORY!
