Ora’nkan Emerges ACCORD Candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial District

Ambassador Shakirullah Jimoh Ora’nkan has been declared the winner of the ACCORD Party primary election conducted by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, emerging as the party’s flag bearer for the Oyo Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ora’nkan was officially declared elected and returned by the Returning Officer for the gubernatorial, House of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senatorial primary elections, Hon. Abdurahman Danladi Muhammad, who led the three-member ACCORD National Working Committee delegation for the primary elections in Oyo State.

The declaration took place at Islamic Primary School, Moniya, Ibadan, in the presence of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security personnel, party delegates, leaders, and other stakeholders.
Announcing the result, Hon. Muhammad disclosed that Ambassador Ora’nkan secured a total of 73,891 votes from delegates across the 11 local government areas that make up Oyo Central Senatorial District.
He affirmed that Ora’nkan had been duly screened and cleared by the party to contest the primary election.
“I can assure you that Ambassador Ora’nkan was cleared by the screening committee in Abuja. I served as Secretary of the Committee. There was no other aspirant for the Oyo Central Senatorial District ticket apart from Ambassador Ora’nkan,” Muhammad stated.

He commended the delegates for their resilience, confidence, and trust in Ora’nkan, adding that the party would subsequently present a Certificate of Return to the winner at its national headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking shortly after his declaration as the party’s senatorial candidate, Ambassador Ora’nkan described the victory as the beginning of a new chapter aimed at repositioning the constituency for sustainable development and meaningful progress.
“I sincerely appreciate the collective mandate given to me as your trusted representative. Together, we shall change the narrative of infrastructural deficit, inadequate welfare, and unfulfilled promises,” he said.
Ora’nkan noted that his legislative agenda would be driven by the needs and aspirations of the people of Oyo Central, stressing his commitment to purposeful representation.
“My word is my bond. I will not make promises that I cannot fulfil. I believe more in action for progress and development than in mere rhetoric,” he declared.
The senatorial candidate further appealed to delegates, party leaders, members of the Ora’nkan Support Group (OSG), and ACCORD supporters across the district to intensify grassroots mobilization efforts to ensure victory for the party in the forthcoming general elections.
