The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Senator (Dr) Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli-Okunmade II, has installed Hon. Saheed Abiola Oyewale as the Mogaji of Osanyin Compound, Idi Areree, Ibadan.
Saheed Oyewale, a vibrant young politician was installed at the Alarere palace of Olubadan in the presence of members of Olubadan-in-Council, family, and his associates.
Mogaji, which stands for head of a large family, is the first step in the Olubadan Chieftaincy Matters. It is at the base of the two ruling lines – Otun (civil) and Balogun (military), that have been producing Olubadan on a rotational basis.
The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Mohood urged Mogaji Osayin and the other installing Mogajis against land grabbing and other vices capable of tarnishing the image of the Ibadan traditional institution.
Mogaji Osanyin and his wife, Mrs Afolasade Oyewale, as well as his friends, and associates, were received by elders of the family at the Osayin family compound at Idi Arere amid dance and traditional entertainment.
In his reaction to his installation as Mogaji, Oyewale said’ ‘ It is a call to duty, a responsibility to family, community and to Ibadanland. It is what we have been looking forward to doing. We thank God that it has come to reality; to God be all the glory.
“I know that the tasks ahead are enormous. I believe that God will help me to shoulder the responsibilities. I will discharge my duties appropriately. The progress of Ibadanland is very dear to my heart. I will join the traditional institution in Ibadan for the growth and development of Ibadan
While speaking to newsmen, Pa Yunusa Oyeniran Akani, the Baale of the Osanyin family express his gratitude to God and the extended family members for making the installation of Osayin Mogaji possible, he also appreciate the support of all Olubadan in Council for ratification of their request.
Pa. Yinusa said Saheed Oyewale was chosen to be the family head because he had a leadership quality,” Pa Asanla said.
“ We know him to have a leadership quality, he is trustworthy, hardworking, fair-minded, and generous as well. He likes to take care of the interests of everybody within the family,” Pa Yinusa stated.
Mama Madinat Oyewale in her remark about the new chieftaincy title for the family, prayed that God would preserve the new Mogaji’s life and that by one day, he would become the Olubadan of Ibadanland.”
” I am very happy to be alive and witness today in the family of Oyewale. It has been a while since we have wanted Saheed Oyewole to become Mogaji of the family, but today, the dream come true.
” He has been playing the role of the head of the family in the past years, irrespective of the situation, he is always available and ready to make everybody in the family and around him comfortable. It is my prayer that one day, he become Olubadan of Ibadan.
One of Mogaji Osanyin’s friends who was present at the Olubadan palace as well as during entertainment at Idi Arere, Mr. Bello Maroof acknowledged the humanitarian quality of his friend, said, Hon. Saheed Oyewale is an epitome of good leadership.
” I am not surprised Saheed is pushed forward to lead his family because since I have been a friend to him, I have known him to be a leader, trustworthy, hardworking, fair-minded, and generous as well.
He likes to take care of the interests of everybody with him. I am sure that those are parts of the qualities the family saw in him before nominating him as the Mogaji of the family, ” Mr. Bello added.
