Oloye Jumoke Resigns from PDP After 20 Years of Membership


A former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, has resigned her membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), bringing to an end over 20 years of active involvement in the party.
In a resignation letter dated March 30, 2026, and addressed to the Ward Chairman in Ward 1, Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State, Akinjide stated that her decision takes immediate effect.


The former minister expressed appreciation to the PDP for the opportunities afforded her throughout her years in the party, particularly in the areas of political participation and public service. She acknowledged the platform the party provided for her political growth and contributions to governance.
Although Akinjide did not reveal her next political destination, her departure is expected to stir reactions across the political landscape in Oyo State, where she remains a prominent and influential figure.
