Makinde Commends Dikko, Unveils Landmark CNG Terminal and 30 New Buses for Oyo

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has expressed delight over the ongoing transformation of the state-owned transport system, Pacesetter Transport Services, following the acquisition of 30 new intercity buses in partnership with Leyland Nigeria, the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station in partnership with Atlas core Nigeria Ltd and the launching of the Engr. Seyi Makinde Bus terminal.
The development, a significant milestone under the Makinde administration, underscores the state government’s commitment to modernizing public transport infrastructure, promoting sustainable energy, and enhancing the efficiency of interstate, intra- and intercity travel for residents.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Governor Makinde commended the management of Pacesetter Transport Services, led by Dr. Dikko Salami, for their visionary approach to public transport.
He highlighted that the introduction of CNG-powered buses aligns perfectly with his administration’s dual goals of environmental sustainability and economic efficiency.
“These 30 new buses and the CNG station are not just vehicles or facilities; they represent a cleaner, smarter, and more reliable future for Oyo State,” Governor Makinde said.

“We are literally setting the pace in public transport and, figuratively, demonstrating how innovation and sustainability can drive our economy forward.”
The newly established CNG station, the first of its kind for the state transport system, is designed to provide an affordable and eco-friendly fueling alternative for Pacesetter buses.
The initiative is expected to reduce operational costs, encourage the adoption of cleaner energy, and ultimately lower transportation costs for commuters.
In addition to the buses and CNG station, the Governor also launched the new terminal which is named after Governor Seyi Makinde. Strategically located within Pacesetter’s headquarters, the terminal features modern passenger amenities, including VVIP and VIP lounges, ticketing boot, waiting areas, and other facilities designed to enhance commuter comfort and convenience.
Governor Makinde praised the terminal as a demonstration of the administration’s focus on world-class service delivery, efficiency, and passenger comfort.
He also commended the leadership of Dr. Dikko Salami, noting that Pacesetter’s recent initiatives under his tenure have brought innovative solutions to the state transport system.
“The efforts of the management team, particularly under Chairman Dikko Salami, are commendable. They have not only enhanced our public transport infrastructure but have also created a legacy that will benefit future generations,” the governor said.
In response, Chairman and Sole Administrator Dr. Dikko Salami expressed profound appreciation to Governor Makinde for his visionary leadership and unwavering support, acknowledging that the governor’s commitment to modern, safe, and sustainable public transport provided the enabling environment for the recent developments.
“We are grateful to His Excellency for believing in the potential of Pacesetter Transport Services and for providing the resources and political will to make these projects a reality,” Dikko said.
