Iyaloja General, Saratu Aduke Gathers Fellow Market Traders For Eye Test, Bank Saving Plans In Ibadan
General of Oyo State, Chief Ambassador Saratu Aduke Konibaje on Friday led market traders in a twin sensitization in free medical and bank savings.
The event which took place at the Oje Market drew hundreds of thousands of market traders.
Speaking to newsmen, the Iyaloja General of Oyo State and the convener of the free eye screening, Chief Saratu Aduke Konibaje, while commending the Seyi Makinde-led administration for ensuring an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, noted that the first edition of the free medical and saving outreach, co-organized by Ego Foundation, a non-governmental organization, and Access Bank, Nigeria is a blessing to the traders.
Alhaja Saratu Aduke added that the essence of the outreach was to educate the traders on the need to prioritize healthy living, and functional sight which will aid brilliant and competitive business transactions.
The Executive Director, of Ego Foundation, Mr Toluwase Olaniyan said the objective of the event was to give due support to women across the state market, beginning with Oje Market.
He said it was a dream come true supporting women, crediting Access Bank for coming out of other commercial banks in Nigeria to support women.
He assured of continued philanthropic gestures in the country especially aiding women’s literacy, and sharpening their business accounts.
In a contribution, a representative of Access Bank Nigeria, Joseph Akinola applauded the Iyaloja General, Saratu Konibaje for conceiving such a beautiful idea to sensitize traders in the state on the need to keep saving, said Access Bank is ready to make soft loans to the traders with little and explainable interest towards expanding their businesses.
Mr Akinola maintained Access Bank decided to embark on sensitization on free medical eye tests and saving training with the view to enlightening them to need good sight, and as well assist them with respective eye aid.
In her reaction, one of the market traders, who spoke to newsmen, Mrs Balikis Abdulsalam, on behalf of others appreciated the Iyaloja-General, Saratu Konibaje for centering the beginning of her leadership on market traders’ empowerment.
Mrs. Abdulsalam said Iyaloja General of Oyo State has shown the world that Governor Seyi Makinde’s decision on her candidature is premised on good virtues in her, adding this will greatly move the Market Council to sustainable development, which is in tandem with the Makinde’s second term mantra.
Meanwhile, the Iyaloja General of Oyo State who was received massively by market traders toured significant places and markets to identify markets that that needed infrastructural improvement, visited the Delesowu Compound at Oje, Ibadan, Oyo State while she monitored the distribution of eyeglasses, drugs, among others.
