Int’l Women’s Day: T1FF Foundation Supports Pregnant Teenagers With Delivery Kits In Ibadan
A non-governmental organization, Twenty-One Five Child Foundation (T1FF), has celebrated the 2024 International Women’s Day with the distribution of delivery kits to teenage pregnant girls in Ibadan.
The foundation also sensitized the pregnant teenagers on procedures for safe and healthy delivery.
Recall that the Ibadan-based Non-Governmental Organization(NGO) in 2023 rounded up its activities with the distribution of free birth kits to pregnant teenagers at Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo state.
A Consultant of Public Health, University College Hospital (UCH), Dr. Tomi Owopetu in her remark during the sensitization
urged the pregnant teenagers to start antenatal care in a certified hospital within the first three months of their pregnancies.
She said they should prioritize eating good food during pregnancy and take note of any strange symptoms in their body system.
Also speaking, the CEO of T1FF, Ambassador Tolu Taiwo while making the distribution kits at Primary Health Centre, Alakia Olode, in the presence of the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Toyin Balogun, said the organization is poised to
help pregnant teenagers navigate through the life-changing and emotional decisions they are facing.
Ambassador Tolu, while charging the pregnant teenagers to remain resolute and determined in their efforts to become better persons, urged them not to be saddened by their predicament as they all have a second chance to achieve their desired goals.
She said that their families and society need them more than before, especially in the face of the prevailing challenges.
” I don’t want you to lose hope irrespective of your present predicament, please, don’t let your present situation define your aspiration but be an inspiration.” CEO of T1FF stated.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Toyin Balogun in her remarks commended Amb. Tolu Taiwo and the T1FF foundation for going the extra mile to support and encourage young pregnant girls in society.
She thereafter urged teenagers not to allow their psychosocial challenges to impact their psychological health and social life.
Other dignitaries present are Hon Sunkanmi Babalola (representing Egbeda State constituency in Oyo State House of Assembly and the SA to Governor of Oyo State on Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency Matters; Akogun Ayo Fatokun.
