An elected councillor in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State, Hon. Lukman Olabamiji Olakunle Okeladeokin, has distributed solar-powered lights and cash assistance to 40 residents of Ward Six as part of efforts to improve living conditions in the community.
Speaking during the outreach, Okeladeokin said the initiative was designed to address key needs within the ward, particularly in the areas of security and economic support.
He noted that the provision of solar lights would enhance visibility at night, thereby helping to reduce crime and improve safety.
The councillor added that the cash assistance was aimed at providing immediate relief to vulnerable residents.
According to him, the intervention is expected to boost local economic activities by enabling businesses to operate beyond daylight hours, while also strengthening community cohesion and resilience.
Residents of the ward commended the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful in addressing pressing community challenges.
